So HONORED to have one of the most wonderful guests that we have ever had on "Hybrid Jazz." This will be Joyce's third visit. In actuality, many of us wouldn't mind if she dropped by every doggone WEEK!

Joyce has roots in New Jersey and New York. From a musical family, she was immersed in Classical, Jazz and R & B since childhood. When she moved to San Francisco in the early 80's, she gravitated to African sounds and Brazilian. It was there that she met Jay Wagner - and that partnership has proven to be fruitful ever since. Musically and personally.

If you didn't know, Joyce is self-taught on guitar. She has a natural feel for communication, melody, a brightness of spirit that has garnered her multiple awards. Because of her excellence, she has had the opportunity to record and/or perform with Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd, Al Jarreau and MANY others who have viewed her with awe.

Award-winning, chart-topping, there are ten recordings to her name - and Joyce is visiting because of her lastest: "Living Out Loud." An EP released in September of last year, it rose quickly to #1  on Amazon Jazz Best Seller's List. Two singles have done extraordinarily well - and now a third has dropped. The title track. Which sums up Joyce's fascinating life better than ANY song that she has given us. We will talk about that specifically.

One of the reasons why Joyce Cooling is so special is because of her advocacy for mental health. We have always spoken of her enthusiasm for NAMI - the National Alliance on Mental Illness. And our guest has also created her own endeavor, "Music for the Mind" - which will certainly be a topic for us besides her intoxicating music.

Her absence has been felt in the strongest of ways. Now that she's back - let's make a promise - that we will NEVER let her go :) 7/28 is the day. Noon Eastern: music. Joyce visits at ONE!
