The Sound of California is within our guest, David Boswell. The length & breadth of surging seas, endless highways and a sun breaking through at dawn over peaceful landscapes - you can hear it ALL in the musicality of this sensitive artist.

Background: David was born in San Francisco, raised in Saratoga - surrounded by a musical family. On guitar at seven, in a Rock band at 12, and saw Pat Metheny at 16. Can you figure out that this is when David KNEW? :)  Unbelievably, after this experience that truly changed him, our young and inspired-by-Jazz guitarist had a chance to study with Pat. AND Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette - in a special hands-on adventure in Woodstock, New York.

What a delicious resume this man has! Bands of NOTE in Northern and Southern California - where he studied Film Scoring at UCLA. You can hear the wondrous underbelly of this education in the tracks that you'll hear on David's 6th album. The flexibility of his playing endeared him to a wide array of artists who kept him busy with session work. Among those: top tier Broadway performers. The fascinating component of this story is that David always made SURE that his individualistic fingerprint was within Jazz circles - he had a trio going that assured future endeavors in the genre that felt like home.

ALTHOUGH you are going to hear quite the hybrid of sounds WITHIN that unique & atmospheric Jazz that will MELT YOUR EARS. Does it help that Jimmy Haslip is at the Captain's wheel of this project? Is that a rhetorical question?! He's also playing. As is Mitch Forman and Andy Snitzer. There are more - and all of these glorious musicians "get" where David Boswell is going. It's a fused joy to behold :) Honestly, "The Story Within the Story" will do your heart good. It's music that you will FEEL not just hear. And ALL of those feels will give you rest.
