Dr. Watts' professional goals are to assist schools in need of improvement to identify and implement programs.

But that's not all. The programs that she would like to see schools implement must be ones that will contribute to an increase in student performance both in reading and writing.

And how to most effective ways to increase student performance in reading and writing? Well, the Dr. has a plan. The most effective ways to do so are via workshops, professional development sessions, & job-embedded professional development and coaching.

After 4 years of utilizing and introducing the process to teachers in other districts, the results were positive. In 2013 the Dr. Watts expanded the Writing to Respond process to include writing in response to test prompts, & after 3  years of usage with a diverse group of students, the results were eye-opening. Dr. Watts has published resources to facilitate the use of the process at schools or home.

That's a lot, but the Dr. wants a lot for our schools, teachers, parents, & students!

Join us as we speak with Dr. Watts, the author & educator, about how she has developed writing materials to help students accomplish her well-intended goal.

When she realized that the first edition of her book did not sufficiently meet the needs of high school students, author Martha Joseph Watts began working on Writing to Respond to Text and Tests, a revised edition that stressed the academic vocabulary addressed at each step & ensured that students were obligated to write responses . . .
