Jim Adkins currently reside in Florida, where he has spent a good deal of hislife. He has been a sailor in the USN, a business owner, manager of a multi-million dollar business, and has spent the last four years as facility coordinator for a large drug treatment/transition facility in Central Florida. He is also a husband, father, and grandfather. He has been teaching in prisons, jails, and transitional facilities for 20 years. Most recently, he conducts classes in criminal thinking, along with pre-employment and money matters.

All these responsibilities come with various titles, which he has tried to honor. He does, however, have one title he is not so proud of and thai is C-496184. Some regretfully would label him a “four-time loser.” Released after 13 years in prison, he refused to accept that label. Jim is quick to point out that history can explain us, but it doesn’t get to define us! Jim wrote a book a few years back titled Monsters and Butterflies; Making Sense of Change, a book that speaks largely of the process God used to transform his life. He joins John on today's show to discuss his journey and the content of his current seminars and workshops for former and current offenders and the impact meeting John had on his life when they met in Tomoka Correctional Iinstitution in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1990.
