Wisconsin native Ed Steckley is a humorous illustrator living in New York City. Beginning as a theme park caricature artist at multiple parks around the Midwest and the country, he’s navigated an illustration career ranging from comic books and magazine illustration, newspaper and advertising, and children's book illustration. Currently he’s the illustrator of two different series of Rube Goldberg books, published by Abrams: two kids’ picture books to date as well as the upcoming three book series of Rube Goldberg ‘Middle Reader’ books, written by Brandon T. Snider, the first of which will be published later this year. Artwork from the picture book series is currently traveling the country to various children’s and science museums as part of a long running Rube Goldberg exhibit. Other clients include Mad Magazine, lots of smaller magazines, Spin Master Toys, and more ad agencies than he’d care to shake a stick at. He's had and has artwork in art galleries and museums all over the country. In addition to his illustration career, Ed has spent the last number of years traveling around the globe with the USO to military bases with a small group of National Cartoonists Society (NCS) members, meeting and drawing for military service members and their families. Locations of these trips include Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Qatar, Germany and Turkey. He currently serves as the liaison between the NCS and the USO. He’s the Vice President of the National Cartoonists Society and runs the Manhattan chapter of that organization. He’s the recipient of two ‘Silver Reuben’ awards from the National Cartoonists Society, for ‘Best in Advertising Illustration’, as well as two different ‘Nosey’ awards for 'Caricaturist of the Year' from the International Society of Caricature Artists.
