Rising Firefly Retreat (for children) - August 3 - 11, 2010

Rising FireFly Retreat is dedicated to providing a place and opportunity for children to find their own special connection with the world around them by introducing them to ancient spiritual practices and supporting them as they infuse the old ways with a new energy.

They uphold that an open structure for learning is key. Kids today are constantly barraged with schedules, video games, texting, facebook, you name it. How often do they have the chance to “unplug” and just be? Experiencing the simple joys that nature has to offer is one of the major focuses we intend to impart to our FireFlies. Learning that we are each an active part of the world around us is another focus. Empowering the youth with the knowledge that they can make a difference and encouraging them to grow their belief in themselves is what we are all about!

About Jennifer Handy, Founder and Director, and Laurelle Rethke, Instructor.

Jennifer is a Certified Holistic Health Counselor and Reiki Practioner in New York City. She spent her life steeped in child development theory. College years were supported by a position as Classroom Assistant in a Child Care Center where I worked with ages 2mo-10yrs. After college, she assisted in the buying and development of children’s artistic and educational products for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.She is currently the founder and director of Rising FireFly Retreat.

Laurelle is a vibrational healing therapist and rock hound. Vibrational therapies are healing modalities that use energetic or vibrational frequencies for healing. These frequencies are present in rocks and crystals, plants, animals and humans. She is passionate about guiding people to rediscover this magic present in all forms around us, and has extensive knowledge of both the physical and metaphysical components of rocks and crystals.
