MTV & Jackass Movie Star Brandon Novak

    in Entertainment

Today on The Neil Haley Show, The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview MTV & Jackass Movie Star Brandon Novak.
The Banyan Treatment Center family is proud to have Film & Television Star, former Professional Skateboarder, and New York Times bestselling author Brandon Novak as part of our Community Outreach team. Brandon’s story is truly inspirational, having recovered from more than 20 years of drug and alcohol addiction. Now with more than three years sober, Brandon works with us here at Banyan helping others who are struggling with addiction to find the help they so desperately need.
Brandon rose to fame at a young age as a professional skateboarder with the renowned Powell-Peralta team. Discovered by Tony Hawk, he was the first pro skater to ever be endorsed by Gatorade, starring in commercials alongside Michael Jordan at just 15 years old. He traveled the world with Bucky Lasek and Bam Margera, and later went on to star in the hit MTV Shows Viva La Bam and Bam’s Unholy Union. As part of the infamous Jackass crew, Brandon appeared in the motion series box office hits with the mischievous pranksters and was catapulted to super stardom. It seemed he had it all.
Brandon’s story, however, took a dark turn, leading him to the depths of despair as a result of an addiction to heroin. Once a multi-millionaire, Brandon lost everything, eventually finding himself homeless on the streets of Baltimore. He was deemed unfixable and even his mother lost hope; she had purchased a cemetery plot for Brandon, as she was sure he would die.
If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction, call Brandon Novak today at 610-546-2608.

  • Exclusive Interview With The CEO From New Dawn Records & UrbanElite PR

    in Entertainment

New Dawn Records were formed in 1996, facilitating some initial low key releases mainly as a way to help some local friends have their music heard.
The main activity began from 2000 when they signed the hip hop crew Belles in Monica, spearheaded by producer Kruze, and helped in their development and recording leading to the group’s only album release “Resistance is Futile” in 2002.  The affiliated singles “Y’All Under Surveillance”, “Meltdown” and “What D’Ya Need” were released on vinyl that year and received international radio airplay including key supporters such as Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 1’s flagship Evening Sessions show.
The singles were particularly well supported in the clubs at the time which led to high entries on DJ Magazine’s specialist charts while the group also featured in international publications including Hip Hop Connection, Billboard, Blues & soul, XLR8R and Hip Hop DX.
Some of their music was also used for a number of Xtreme Sports programmes and small independent film.
The group’s final single release was “Smoke Filled Rooms” in 2003
During this period, the label looked to expand their operation and bring additional dynamics to their overall organization.  With a group of fcolleagues, the concept of “Urban Elite” was conceived, originally to build a community of those active in different artforms such as film, photography, music, street art, the aim being to cross collaborate on various projects.
Over time, Urban Elite’s activity centred on film / documentary production, music production and music promotions.

  • Who Killed Christa Helm? Guest Jamey DuVall

    in Entertainment

Tall, blond, and gorgeous, Christa Helm had parts on Wonder Woman and Starsky and Hutch as her high points. She consorted with the likes of Warren Beatty, Mick Jagger, Joe Namath, and the Shah of Iran. Details of her trysts Helm kept in her diary, and that is why, on the night in 1977 when she was found stabbed and bludgeoned to death on a street in West Hollywood, police suspected she had been killed for what she knew. The diary, complete with a rating system for the famous men she bedded, had disappeared. Tapes of her sexual encounters, secretly recorded by Helm, were also missing. Was the actress murdered because she had turned to extorting the celebrities and politicians she knew? The last lead in her now-cold case is a cryptic postcard Helm sent to a friend before she died. “I am in way over my head here,” she wrote. “I’m into something I can’t get out of.”
Jamey DuVall is an expert on the case and host of the popular podcast "Movie Geeks United!" a movie-themed podcast featuring insightful film discussion and interviews with over 500 of the most influential filmmakers in the business. Jamey joins us to discuss efforts to reopen and solve the case. DuVall has starred in over 70 theatrical productions since he was a child. A talented actor, writer, and singer
