In this episode of "Brining Voices To Power" I talk with Rob Wheeler and the Human Athletic Movement (HAMteam Huntsville) about the Norfolk, VA. Human Athletic Movement Team (HAMteam Huntsville) under the leadership of Rob Wheeler has blossomed into a thriving program for young track and field athletes. Each year, Wheeler takes aspiring track and field athletes. Each year, Wheeler takes aspiring track & field athletes under his wing and help guide and train them to be better athletes. HAMteam Huntsville program provides training to high school and middle school students in Madison County. HAMteam Huntsville program places great emphasis on education and academics. Wheeler with the help of local partners assist students with academic tutoring and ACT preparation. Wheeler states, "The focus is on the whole athlete". HAMteam Huntsville program has seen some great success through the years. For the last 3 years, 100% of the seniors have received college scholarships. HAMteam Huntsville has really worked hard this year and participated in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), Junior Olympics which is a yearly track and field competition that allows kids to participate in various events, within their age group. This was an opportunity for the atheletes to gain exposure and to be seen by college recruiters. Ultimately the payoff of a presence at the AAU Junior Olympics for many of the participants is a college athletic scholarship. The team has returned from this years Junior Olympics in Norfolk, VA.
