So, what's wrong with honoring our mother's? There is little doubt that most professing Christians will say that Mother's Day has nothing to do with the Pagan practices of the ancient world. Despite the fact that the origins of this holiday are well known, most Christians will simply cover their ears, refusing to acknowledge the truth. WE HAVE REPLACED HOLY DAYS WITH HOLIDAYS! After all, the American observance of Mother's Day first began in 1907 and was made a national celebration by Woodrow Wilson in 1914. What’s wrong with paying tribute our their mothers? The Bible says “honor thy father and thy mother” doesn’t it? In ancient Roman Religion, Matronalia (or Matronales Feriae) was a festival for celebrating Juno Lucina; the goddess of childbirth ("JUNO who brings children into the light"), and of motherhood (mater is "mother" in Latin) and women in general.
