HOW TO DEVELOP A PROPER SELF IMAGE
Your self-image is a mental picture of yourself, both as a physical body and an individual. When you think about yourself, the feelings and images that come up are important. A healthy body image means that you see yourself as you really are and that you feel good in your own skin.
A sense of self is one's perception of oneself. Each person's sense of self is directly related to how they feel about themselves, their levels of self-esteem, and confidence or lack thereof. Each person's overall perception of self is critical because it lays the foundation for all other aspects and elements in our lives. A strong sense of self often breeds confidence and ambition, during a fragile sense of self-engenders cowardice and lethargy. Consequently, a strong sense of self is utterly paramount and so is knowing how to gain it.
Self-esteem is the judgment of personal performance compared with the self-ideal. The self-ideal is based on personal standards and self-expectations. Self-esteem is most threatened during adolescence. Self-esteem is associated with locus of control.
