Film critic Mack Bates and host Betty Jo Tucker review two new Susan Sarandon films -- The Last of Robin Hood and The Calling. Scott Abramovitch, who wrote the screenplay for The Calling, plans to join the discussion, and Richard Glatzer, director/writer of The Last of Robin Hood, has been invited to call in.

The Last of Robin Hood   follows Errol Flynn's scandalous affair with a star-struck teenager during the late 1950s. Cast members include Kevin Kline, Dakota Fanning and Susan Sarandon. This intriguing movie deals with the desire for fame and the high price it exacts. Kline plays Flynn; Fanning portrays the somewhat naive teen; and Sarandon is her fame-obsessed mother.

In The Calling, a mysterious and suspenseful thriller, Sarandon portrays a world-weary detective trying to solve a series of gruesome murders. With these two very different roles, this talented Oscar-winning actress again proves her versatility.

An avid Sarandon fan, Mack Bates conducted an in-depth interview with Sarandon a few years ago for The Leader,  a University of Wisconsin student newspaper. He also contributed to Tucker's book about Sarandon (Susan Sarandon: A True Maverick) and now writes for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He also serves as a staff blogger for Milwaukee Magazine's official film blog.
