On Thursday, I will interview Jeremy Pelt, trumpeter, producer and educator. Forging a bond with the Mingus Big Band very early on, as his career progressed, Pelt built upon these relationships and many others which eventually lead to collaborations with some of the genre's greatest masters. These projects include performances and recordings with Cliff Barbaro and Keter Betts, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Ravi Coltrane, Frank Foster, Winard Harper, Jimmy Heath, Vincent Herring, John Hicks, Charli Persip, Ralph Peterson, Lonnie Plaxico, Bobby Short, Cedar Walton, Frank Wess, Nancy Wilson and The Skatalites, to name a few. Pelt frequently performs alongside such notable ensembles as the Roy Hargrove Big Band, The Village Vanguard Orchestra and the Duke Ellington Big Band, and is a member of the Lewis Nash Septet and The Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band featuring Louis Hayes. As a leader, Pelt has recorded ten albums and has toured globally with his various ensembles, appearing at many major jazz festivals and concert venues. Jazz lives!

WILLIE NILE TAKES ANOTHER BITE OUT OF THE BIG APPLE! Veteran rock ’n’ roll troubadour pays tribute to his adopted hometown NYC! New York City has always inspired me,” states Willie Nile. “I’ve lived in Greenwich Village for many years now, and I love being there. The energy, the grit, and the mystery of it all fills my heart with wonder. Most of these songs were written in New York or were inspired by it in one way or another.”Nile is referring to New York at Night, his 13th studio album and the strongest manifestation to date of his deep affinity for his adopted hometown. The album’s 12 personally charged new originals exemplify the artist’s trademark mix of romance, idealism, humor, emotional urgency and a true believer’s passionate embrace of all things rock ’n’ roll. Nile’s abiding passion for his town animates such tunes as "New York Is Rockin'" and the album's title track. The collection also features some resonant meditations on love, specifically “A Little Bit of Love,” “The Last Time We Made Love,” and “Downtown Girl.” “I believe in love,” Nile asserts. “It’s what makes life worth living. Life is hard for everyone and this world would be a sorry place without it.His loyal fan base includes such admirers as Bruce Springsteen, with whom he’s guested onstage on multiple occasions, and Pete Townshend, who personally requested him as the opening act on the Who’s historic 1980 U.S. tour. The list of avowed Nile fans also includes Bono, Lou Reed, Ian Hunter, Graham Parker, Jim Jarmusch, Little Steven, and Lucinda Williams

Music is indeed the universal language. You don't need words to understand a feeling conveyed by a particular piece of music; all it takes is a killer beat to make stadiums of people with vastly different worldviews jump out of their chairs and dance it out. And everyone has a memory of how a particular song served as a soundtrack for a first kiss, a graduation or an unforgettable road trip. Every day, you'll discover how eclectic BlogTalkRadio's music offerings are, as music fans, makers, movers and shakers across the globe share their passion for any and every genre: Adult Contemporary, Dubstep, Hip Hop, R&B, Dance, Jazz, '80s, Classical, Big Band, Country, Children's, Folk, Indie, Oldies, New Age, World, Christian, Opera, Alternative, Broadway, Punk, Rock, Classic Rock, Gospel, Singer-Songwriter and much more. You'll even find episodes devoted to specific instruments. So go on, find your beat by simply pressing play.
