Cuñao is a Los Angeles-based, Latin Folk group . They use their multi-ethnic background & influences to create evocative, poetic songs that transcend time and leave listeners with lush images. Cuñao puts a global twist on their Latin sound by exploring African rhythms, Eastern European melodies and American Rock aesthetics. Their live concerts are wild and they nominated for a Latin Grammy this year with Alih Jey.
Their new album, RAYUELA, is theirsecond full-length album, and it will be oming April 10. RAYUELAis loosely influenced by the Julio Cortazar novel of the same name; we were drawn in by its interesting use of form and chapter sequencing. Our RAYUELA is an interweaving of different musical styles and rhythms glued together through dreamy and introspective lyrical content dealing with death, love, the mysterious, and finding oneself. Several themes and musical styles are often explored within the same song. We are releasing a new video also, Niños Del Desierto from our music in the Latin Folk Opera Cancion Del Inmigrante with members of The Edward Roybal Learning Center community, in collaboration with Beth Peterson and One Grain of Sand Puppet Theater, and Cuerva Urban Folklorico.
