With 10 Austin Music Awards, a million YouTube views, tours as a cultural ambassador , being named an official 2018 SXSW artist for the fifth year in a row, and her own holiday  declared by the Mayor of  Austin Texas, plus a nonprofit providing scholarships to Latinas,  Gina Chavez is a force that is felt far beyond music.

Born  n Austin, Texas,  songwriting and performing since the age of 18, she discovered Latin music and dance in her first year of college while studying in Buenos AiresArgentina.  She released her debut solo album, Hanging Spoons in 2007, and her first live album, Gina Chavez Live at the Music Club in 2014, her first independent studio album, Up.Rooted, in 2018 and her second studio record, Lightbeam, in 2018.  Her acclaimed single "Siete-D" was released in 2016 as a protest again gang violence in El Salvador..She has appeared 3 times on NPR, with nearly 1 million views on YouTube and  a spot on NPR’s Top 15 Tiny Desk Concerts. She performed at The Kate on a nationally televised episode on PBS She has won  12 Austin Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, and the Grand Prize for the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. She has topped the iTunes and Amazon Latin charts with her Spanish/English albums. This May, she plans to release her fourth, Spanish/English album, La Que Manda..She sings t benefit and  her foundation, Niñas Arriba College Fund, sends girls from El Salvador to college, changing the world one girl at a time.
