Swedish company Wood Tube is making lightweight paper studs. Made from FSC-certified paper, the paper studs can be recycled like cardboard. In addition, Wood Tube studs emit 14 times less CO2 than steel equivalent studs, according to a life-cycle analysis.

Designer Sheila Bridges created a version of toile, called Harlem toile de Jouy. She says it “lampoons some of the stereotypes deeply woven into the African American experience.”
