Tonight's special guest is Nikita Bacote from Florence, South Carolina who was in the Foster Care System. Her goal now is to give a voice to those who have none. "My abuse started since I can remember," she says, ".. at 5." She continues, "My mother had men in and out of her life. The last one would almost beat us to death." But it got worse when she married Nikita's step-father. "While they were married he would abuse her then they would beat us so badly we would bleed through our clothes .. for years. It wasn’t until one day she couldn’t take it no more she went into a mental hospital and we went to Foster Care!!" She felt, ".. lonely, lost, hurt and just not wanting live anymore. I said no child should have to go through this." Nikita goes on, "I had to get plenty of counseling. I had to learn that those things that happened to me were not my fault, and to love myself, because no one never told us they love me unless they were told to. I still have moments of trying to slip back but now I am a mother of two beautiful girls I want them to know it’s ok to have your moments but that I don’t let it take me back to those dark place. God put people in my life to keep me motivated and push me out of my comfort zone." She concludes, "Every day is a fight to stay alive. But I push through it everyday through Grace and Mercy and God. Now I am an advocate for those who don’t have a voice in the Foster Care System and everyone who needs my help has someone to speak to them."
