Tonight’s show is about how to choose a good online mental health therapist or professional.

In this era of COVID quarantine and so many services moving temporarily but somewhat long-term to online, and truthfully with very little notice or preparation compared to that one would have expected prior to the pandemic, many mental health professionals have struggled to provide a high-quality level of effective service over the phone or through video chat. Prior to 2020, many had never offered this service before, and had to throw together some mechanic for this in a matter of weeks, in some cases with little or no professional computer or internet help to set it up.

There are some significant differences in providing mental health help between in-person visits and tele-health visits, and we want to discuss some of the issues that come up in this arrangement, both for patients and for professionals.

Tonight, we will discuss:

  1. Types of Online & Virtual Mental Health Help
  2. How Traditional Sessions Differ from Online Sessions
  3. How to Maximize Online Therapy
  4. How to Choose a Good Online Mental Health Professional

We'll start off the evening with some topic-relevant Classic Rock played by Dr. Mathis, followed by Classic Rock trivia in "The Rock & Roll Shrink Recalls," followed by our topic discussion.
