Ocracoke Island, once the hideout of Blackbeard the Pirate, features a 200-year-old lighthouse, the oldest still operating in North Carolina, and a quirky village where visitors get around on golf-carts. The island has only 1,000 permanent residents but 16 miles of beaches that belong to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. It also has wild ponies, bicycle paths, and rental homes and motels, as well as a campground. Hear more on Thursday, January 12, from Helena Stevens of the Ocracoke Tourism Development Authority as she guests on TRAVEL ITCH RADIO. Listen live at 8p EST on iTunes or BlogTalkRadio.com or catch the archived show on Facebook anytime. This will be the 486th episode and second of our 12th season, with Dan Schlossberg and Maryellen Nugent Lee hosting.
