What would be the impact if you brought together a group of more than 200 students and teachers, representing every high school in Mercer County, to discuss the delicate issues of race, class and gender? Well, it happened just this year when 10 students and five teachers from every Mercer County high school came together for the first annual Day of Dialogue-A Journey into Race, Class, and Gender in Our Schools. Dr. Thomas Smith, superintendent, Hopewell Valley Regional School District; Crystal Edwards, superintendent, Lawrence Township School District; and Jessica Cincotta, assistant principal, Lawrence Township High School, all join NJSBA host Ray Pinney to discuss the event, the discussions and what students and staff learned.
