“Ashes to Ashes: Addressing Racial Injustice in America - The Reckoning"

"Ashes to Ashes" are the final words in typical African American funeral services. FROM 1882-1968, 4,743 LYNCHINGS OCCURRED IN THE UNITED STATES. OF THESE PEOPLE THAT WERE LYNCHED 3,446 WERE BLACK (72%). THE MAJORITY OCCURING IN THE SOUTH (79%). This too is Black History. Many of those who were murdered by the Klan to maintain the reign of white supremacy never received their  “Ashes to Ashes”. Ashes to Ashes, the film and project memorialize the more than 4,000 African Americans who were lynched during the Jim Crow era.  Tonight we talk with her about reaching back and understanding that these dead, the method by which they died is Black History too.
