The 2021 California gubernatorial recall election is an upcoming special election on whether to recall Governor Gavin Newsom. It is scheduled for September 14, 2021. Every voter has received a ballot at their address for the option to vote by mail on or before election day.
A recall ballot in California consists of two questions: whether the incumbent should be recalled, and if recalled, which challenger should replace them. If a majority of voters favors removing the incumbent by selecting "yes" on the first question, then the challenger who receives the most votes finishes out the incumbent's term in office.
