Did I Do That? Sci-Fi and 80’s Catch Phrases with Richard Bakewell
Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week, we talk sci-fi and 80’s catch phrases with our guest, director and producer Richard Bakewell.
What if the past you remember didn’t really happen?
That’s the simple premise of filmmaker Richard Bakewell’s character-driven, science fiction drama, ROSWELL DELIRIUM, which centers around a young woman who survives nuclear disaster and alien encounters, only to slowly discover that the events she remembers are distorted by her traumatic experiences. It’s an award winning sci-fi movie that gets meta with 80’s catch phrases and an 80’s TV and movie star cast including Anthony Michael Hall, Lisa Whelchel, Dee Wallace, Sam Jones, and Reginald VelJohnson, playing characters in an 80’s alternate reality dystopia.
Join Dan “Grim” Shea, Marke., and the “Retro Cool Nerd” Jimmy Leszczynski as they unpack what it is to be a sci-fi movie and remember, poorly, a few of those “Silly Rabbit, Trix are for Kids” 80’s catch phrases.

And the sound was not good!! I want to give you my audience my BEST!
So, here we are.......part 2 and it will be better this time!
So join my bestie ReRe and good friend Deidre as they grill me and the interviewer becomes the interviewee! If you heard a bit of the show last week.... well get ready!! It's going to be a WILD RYDE!!
Why are you doing this you ask? Good question!
It's a life update! It has been 2 years since the transition of my partner in life and business Max Rice. It has also been 2 almost 3 years since my Cancer Battle began. This is a chance for YOU my listeners to get a inside and behind the scenes look at what life has been like and where I'm going in life. It's also a change that is taken place for me and a change in my content.
I have used my Facebook page as a place to give updates and keep people informed about the ups and downs of life. I will still give updates but I will be more selective in what I will share and also HOW I share that information.
Do you have questions? Do you want to ask me some questions as well? Okay, cool! Email those questions at nitetalkswithsasha69@gmail.com and they will be sent to ReRe and Deidre to be added in as THEY see fit. If you don't hear your name or question asked, then THEY decided it didn't fit! I have no control on what is asked.
I'm excited!! And I hope you are too! Want speak to me or call in to ask your questions, (515)605-9707 is the number!! Call like WILD CHILE!!

In Memory of Joe Blunt, of the Drifters and Voices of Classic Soul
During his decade (1975-1985) as one of the lead singers of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group The Drifters, Blunt was privileged to perform alongside the legendary Ben E. King (Stand By Me) and the great Johnny Moore (Under The Boardwalk). During this period, The Drifters experienced a significant career resurgence, especially in England, where the group returned to the top of the charts with several top 10 hits, major tours, and media appearances.
Joe received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Sony Music for his service to the music industry as a member of The Drifters on the Bell/Arista Record labels. Sony Music also awarded Blunt a Gold Disc for his contributions to the compilation CD, "The Drifters: The Very Best Of," certified Gold in the U.K. Blunt retired from The Drifters and returned to his musical roots as a gospel music performer in D.C. He was also a member the trio “Voices Of Classic Soul". The group toured extensively all across the country and made dozens of media appearances, with Blunt singing lead on crowd-pleasing Drifters classics, including "Under The Boardwalk," "This Magic Moment," "On Broadway," "Up On The Roof," and King's "Stand By Me." Blunt retired from performing in 2023. Joe Blunt began his singing career while a student at D.C.’s McKinley Tech High School, signing his first recording contract with Cap City Records as a member of The Chancellors. Joe was the lead singer on the group's 1968 debut single,” Sad Avenue.” The group, however, may be best remembered as producing a future member of The Temptations, a member of The Platters, and, in 1975, Joe Blunt became a member of the legendary Drifters.
