EJR w/Jeanine Molloff - Corporations pushed climate lies and killed the planet.

    in Politics Progressive

We will look at the decades old disinformation campaign sponsored by big petroleum pushing the lie that global warming is overblown, a hoax, a 'Chicken Little' panic. This campaign has lulled the public into a false sense of safety. Just like big tobacco, the petroleum industry should be held accountable for the death and destruction they have caused. This is our big story.
Story #2 will focus on a recent SCOTUS decision. The Supreme Court refused to hear the case of Doe v. McKesson, thus sanctifying the lower courts decision which held that protest organizers can be held liable for the actions of anyone present at the scene. The ramifications of this pronouncement have dire repercussions for any protest group.
We will also report on our latest Jackass of the Week Awards, and expand our growing List of Deplorables.
    Come join me.

    Israel at war 6 months

    in Politics

Good morning! Today, on The Meter, we will cover the now 6 month old Israel-Hamas War. The civilian death total in Gaza is now over 33,000. According to Palestinian sources, as well as 3,000 hamas fighters, and 600 IDF soldiers. This past week, 7 international aid workers were killed by an Israeli air strike on their convoy. Israel has apologized for the mistake, has placed the incident under investigation, and removed the air crew from combat service. This is just as the Biden administration is threatening a change of American policy toward Israel, Iran is promising retaliation after one of it's comnanders was killed by Israel in Syria, and as Israel plans the long awaited ground invasion of Rafah where 1.4 million have sought refuge. How and when will this conflict end? Also, this week, the monthly jobs report exceeded expectations by a wide margin sparking a rally on Wall Street. Joe Biden immediately took the credit for his economic policy. However, $0.99 cent stores announced they're closing all of their stores, media and fast food restaurants announced job cuts, and the unemployment rate ticket up by 0.1% to 3.8%. So, how strong is the job market in reality? Also, as the election is set, fundraising seems to be King. Joe Biden hosted a star-studded fund raiser in New York City last week at $100,000 per camera shot while Donald Trump attended the wake of fallen NYC police officer Jonathan Diller. Trump hosted a gathering at Mar-A-Lago this weekend that raised 55 million dollars. With the stakes high in 2024, are the candidates doing their duty or overlooking the real issues facing the American people? Please join the discussion at 10AM. The call-in number is 347-308-8933. Your input is essential.

    The Final Four, Earthquake

    in Politics

An earthquake rattled the Northeastern United States on Friday morning. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, but federal and local officials warned of possible aftershocks.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 4.8 magnitude quake was centered 7 kilometers north of Whitehouse Station, N.J., about 50 miles west of New York City, at a depth of 4.7 kilometers.
It could be felt as far as south as Washington, D.C., and as far north as Boston.
    ?? What services were impacted?
Ground stops were issued at numerous airports, including Newark, JFK and Baltimore/Washington (in Maryland), while crews assessed any potential structural damage. New Jersey Transit said rail service was subjected to up to 20-minute delays in both directions "due to bridge inspections" following the earthquake.
But there were no service disruptions to Amtrak or the New York City subway system.
