February is National Pet Dental Health Month, and Dr. Roger highlights the importance of maintaining health teeth and gums in dogs and cats.  Dental disease in pets is far more than just bad breath.  The presence of chronic dental disease compromises the immune system, predisposes the pet to oral and other cancers, and can directly assault and compromise the heart, liver and kidneys.  Dr. Roger focuses this episode on a recent 2021 study that does not just prove the increased incidence of kidney failure in dogs and cats living with chronic dental disease, but actually quantifies the increased statistical risk.

Dr. Roger Welton is a practicing veterinarian and media personality, CEO/attending veterinarian at Premier Veterinary Care , and author of the top selling book, The Man In The White Coat.  Dr. Roger selects listener emails to be addressed on the air, so if interested in having your voice heard on the podcast, email comments or questions to comments@web-dvm.net.  For more content from Dr. Roger visit his blog at Web-DVM.net and you can also follow his public Facebook profile by friend requesting "Roger Welton DVM".
