TalkBlackHistory: Black Love, History & An Alleyway Murder in Kansas City, MO
Today on TalkBlackHistory, Dr. Sowande' Mustakeem will center themes of love and murder in black historical past through an alleyway stabbing and subsequent murder that happened 1891 in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Mustakeem turns attention to a 19th-century murder that erupted in Kansas City Missouri challenging traditional narratives of black history, crime, and memory. As such we learn the entangled narrative of three young African Americans where love became the point of connection and divide that would leave one woman dead and another forced to face charges of murder, state imprisonment, and the prospect of execution. Stay tuned for a fascinating conversation.
