The Path to Liberation and Self-Determination

As this new administration is entering its first full month, one thing is certain; Black American and its specific concerns will not be high priority in the coming four years.

President Biden has made it clear, through various Executive Orders, that the LGBTQ and Undocumented Immigrants interests  will hold priority over our own.

This has been the typical response from the political powers to be, since the United States has been a nation.

In the 19th century, most immigrants from Europe (especially from Eastern Europe) came to this country and jumped ahead of us economically, politically and socially (this even though African Americans had been here since the 17th century).

Later, Latinos and Asian immigrants came and we once again were told to wait, while their concerns and interests were addressed.

What I find curious is how we have allowed this process to go on for centuries... even now.

Listen to this analogy:

Suppose you went to the DMV to get your driver’s license and had to wait for 45 minutes... all of a sudden, someone rushes into the building, pushing his or herself ahead of you in line. What will be your response? 

I am sure you would say, ”Hey!, what do you think you are doing, you had better get in the back of the line, I have been waiting here too long to be pushed back now.”

Now, if you would not let someone jump ahead of you  in a line you have been waiting in for 45 minutes, why are you so willing to wait in line for 156 years, while quietly and patiently allowing others to move ahead of us, in every area of American life.

We will be discussing how we can begin turn the tide from dependence to self-determination.
