Join Co-Host Aqeela Sherrills and David Guizar for this episode; Arts of the Hood. On this episode we will discuss how South Central Artist are working to provide community healing spaces while also addressing issues of displacement. We will be joined by special guest, Poet/Organizer and Activist Will Flo aka William Flores who is a Los Angeles native, by way of El Salvador. He believes in bettering the community by empowering people to be active advocates of change in their own communities. He has been able to do this through the South Central Arts Collective to build community power and challenge community informed issues including but not limited to police brutality, gentrification, environmental justice, poverty, lack of community spaces with a social justice lens and an asset based approach. He does this along side of other artists, organizers and allies to help heal both the individual and the collective. Since an early age he has been part of many groups and organizations. He has collaborated on projects with grassroot groups such as Casa Solidaria Del Sur, Cielo Galleries, and the IPR Healing Arts Space, and Paint LA. He will share with us a selected piece of poetry and talk about how his own healing journey sustains his ability to bring artist and community together for healing and empowerment.  Tune In!
