While negotiations for Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs seem to be making progress for a March 18th MSG date, Carl Froch is rumored to be the contingency plan.  Although Carl Froch had been retired for over two years since his Knockout victory against British Rival George Groves, both K2 and Eddie Hearn have expressed interest in making this highly lucrative fight.

All of theses negations are occurring under the assumption that K2 will be able to make a Blockbuster September fight vs. Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez.  Alvarez who was originally expected to return this December will most likely wait until May to fight a PPV fight leading up to the Showdown against GGG.
