Respect, what is it? Men seem to be extremely sensitive about being respected, so much so that an apparent act of distespect can lead to a fight and even a killing. Why are men, particularly young black men, so prone to react violently if they believe they have been disrespected. We ask our panel of men, led in this discussion by Host Karriem Hameed, to answer these questions:
1. Describe a time when you felt that a male, younger or older than you, publicly disrespected you. How did you feel? How did you respond?
2. Describe a time when you felt that a woman had publicly disrespected you. How did you feel? How did you respond?
3. Why do you think being disrespected can trigger someone to react with violence?
