Adults go through many tragedies in life which cause them to grieve, displaying sadness with tears and depression, but how do we recognize when a child is grieving? When a loved one dies or a child suffers a loss (moving away from friends, failing a grade in school, losing a pet, parents divorcing) these childhood tragedies cause our children to grieve and often no one recognizes their behavior as grief. Is your child suddenly sullen and angry? Getting into fights at school? Failing classes? Using alcohol or drugs? Getting sexually promiscuous? Running away from home? Your child may be suffering an emotional loss, and as a parent, you may be misguided by well meaning friends and family to issue severe punishment, when instead, your child may need comfort and counseling, Today author Cathy Ann Ellington, President of O's House and Darlene Lewis, Certified Grief Counselor, join Zhana live from London to discuss how to comfort a grieving child.
