When it comes to the homeless (unhoused) population, we are the solution we have been waiting for. Just as individuals are solitcited to help feed starving children across the world by pledging a small monthly donation, so too can individuals contribute a small tax deductable donation toward paying rent for an unhoused person or family. Today we look at the agreement individuals can make to help financially and how to keep such a process honest and transparent so that people know who they are helping and what kind of progress toward employment that person is making. Can we help homeless long time residents of Chicago and recent migrants to Chicago from Venezuela at the same time? Today we will create the agreements that residents will sign who wish to help financially, and design the system whereby they can track where their dollars are being used.  We are calling these publically funded apartments for the homeless Private Economically Assisted Cooperative Establishments (PEACE) because such a cooperation among private citizens can in fact bring peace to our cities that are overwhelmed with the crisis of homelessness.
