Phenotype is the set of observable traits or characteristics of an organism. It is the surface layer of life as we see it, and we base our initial opinions and prejudices on an organisms phenotype. While acknowledging an organism's phenotype is an important part of self preservation, one cannot expect to survive solely depending on what something looks like. Wolves and dogs share many common traits, but one would not walk up and try to pet a wolf. How many times have you heard someone who was sprayed by a skunk say they approached the animal because it looked like a cat? This may sound absurd, but in American society a lot of these cats are really skunks! The use of disguise is deception 101, and when we make judgements, and throw our blind support behind someone because  they share our phenotype we take ourselves out of the game in round one! This same principle can also be applied to gender, sexual orientation and so forth and so on. We will be discussing the concept of skinfolk vs. kinfolk, and how codification can eliminate imposters.
