DO YOUR PART- STAND UP AND BE COUNTED- FILL OUT YOUR CENSUS FORM!

The Census was has been reported to have first been implimented as far back a c.575-535 BC by Servius Tullius, sixth King of Rome. The first census after the American Revolution  was taken in 1790, under Secrectary of State Thomas Jefferson. The census is taken decennial (every ten years) and there has been 22 federal censuses since 1790 and has started on April 1 since 1930. The next one will be 2030.

The most familiar way the census has been taken was going door to door, but since 2013 the Census Bureau began exploring the possibility of using technology to aid data collection for the 2020 Census. Each household will receive an option to complete the census by internet, phone or paper questionnaire.  The information collected is important because the Census Bureau issues estimates made using the surveys and statistical models,  this  is expeically important for the Population Estimates Program and American Community Survey,

The purpose of the Census is to count  the whole number of persons in each state, excluding Indians not taxed. Certain federal programs depend on the infomration collected and may determine whether they will be funded. We will learn more about the history and the importance of returning your census paper work or file on-line from Dr. Legand Burge.

Dr. Legand L. Burge, Jr. currently serves as a Partnership Specialist for the U.S Census Bureau.  The Bureau developes partnerships and collects decennial statistics of population and housing and other data for use by the Federal Goverment, and other organizations.

Tune in, this is important information you must know.
