Good morning, today on The Meter we will discuss the government shutdown. On Friday, a partial shutdown occurred over disputes for border funding for The Wall. President Trump is asking for $5 billion for a security wall on our southern border and while prominate democrats are on the record for previous support for a border wall, they are now in strong opposition. The bill passed the House 217-185 and is now in the Senate where it is expected to fall well short of the required 60 votes. In a heated exchange in the White House with the cameras blaring, Nancy Pelosi said the bill didn’t have enough votes to pass the House. Reports we surfacing that the President was going to sign a budget bill that didn’t include Wall findings enraging conservatives, but Trump says he wasn’t considering a no-wall budget. The shutdown is expected to last through Christmas. Is it Build the Wall or Bust? Also, Secretary of Defense James Mattis is resigning after a disagreement with the President on troop withdrawals from Iraq and Syria. The President announced that the US will be pulling our ground forces form the two nations a decision hat drew criticism from both parties. How will this shake up effect global US strategy?
