Good morning, today on The Meter, we will discuss the killing of a Black man George Floyd by a White Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin. Chauvin had his knee forcibly on Floyd's neck for 8 minutes after pleas from Floyd that he couldn't breathe even after Floyd was unconscious. The killing was recorded on video sparking outrage that has led to days of widespread violence, rioting, looting, and fires. Derek Chauvin has been fired, arrested, charged with 3rd degree murder, manslaughter, and is facing decades behind bars. 3 other officers have also been terminated and may face charges as well. President Trump terminated the United States relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO) for their lackluster and China-centric response to Covid-19. The US and China are squaring off over Hong Kong. The Chinese seem to be reneging on their agreement to all autonomy for the city. Could this lead to a Cold War between the 2 mammoth nations? The United States has returned to Space. President Trump was on site in Florida as Elon Musk's SPACEX sent US Astronauts into Space for the first time in more than 20 years. President Trump has created Space Force, the sixth branch of the US Armed Forces. Please join the discussion at 10AM. The call in number is 347-308-8933. Your input is essential.
