The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview NFL Hall of Fame Legend Barry Sanders, and Dr. Greg O'Shanick. They will discuss PBA.
There’s been a lot of attention recently on the effects of sports-related head injuries, yet PseudoBulbar Affect (PBA) – a neurological condition that is thought to impact a significant number of people with brain injury– is absent from the dialogue. To help increase awareness of PBA as a treatable consequence of brain injury, Barry Sanders has joined the Tackle PBA campaign in partnership with the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund.
An estimated two million Americans suffer from PBA, which is characterized by uncontrollable and sudden outbursts of laughing and/or crying. For people who have brain injuries and certain neurologic conditions, PBA episodes can occur several times a day, lasting from seconds to minutes these episondes can be exaggerated and occur spontaneously, often with little to no clear trigger.
