Duties of a Father: To Control
Foundation Scripture:
(1Ti 3:4 AMPC) He must rule his own household well, keeping his children under control, with true dignity, commanding their respect in every way and keeping them respectful.
References:
(Gen 18:19 AMPC) For I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may teach and command his children and the sons of his house after him to keep the way of the Lord and to do what is just and righteous, so that the Lord may bring Abraham what He has promised him.
(Jos 24:15 AMPC) And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
(Tit 1:6 AMPC) [These elders should be] men who are of unquestionable integrity and are irreproachable, the husband of [but] one wife, whose children are [well trained and are] believers, not open to the accusation of being loose in morals and conduct or unruly and disorderly.
(Tit 1:6 MSG) As you select them, ask, "Is this man well-thought-of? Are his children believers? Do they respect him and stay out of trouble?"
