Off to the Races Radio powered by The Racing Biz returned Saturday, September 10 with an action-packed one hour program.

This week's show featured visits from Jill Byrne, VP of Racing Operations for Colonial Downs, and handicapper and analyst Barry Spears.

Byrne has overseen racing at Colonial since the track came back to life in 2019. Colonial recorded a record-breaking year in 2022, with wagering handle up nearly 30% from the prior year. The meet closed with a bang, recording the first two $6-million handle days in its history on its last two days of the season.

Spears, a longtime handicapper, has served as racing analyst for Tampa Bay Downs and cohosts, with Chuck Simon, the Going in Circles podcast.

Also on the docket are Darrell Wood, talking about all things Virginia, and legendary horseplayer Derby Bill Watson.
