When coming out of Williamston High School in the late 90's, Pernell Griffin was one of the state's most highly sought prospects. After turning down the likes of Penn State to come to East Carolina, Griffin went on to a stellar career that featured him helping guide the Pirates to three bowl games in his final three seasons and 23 wins. After being named a Freshman All-American by Football News in 1998, the legendary linebacker earned First Team All-Conference USA honors in each of his final three seasons and was a 4th Team All-American by The Sporting News when he tallied 153 tackles as a senior in 2001!
