Maurice Kemp, who began his career at Alabama A&M and came to East Carolina from Miami-Dade Junior College, became the first Pirate player to be named First-Team All-CUSA when he was recognized in 2012-13.

The Miami-native became just the third East Carolina player to top the 600-point mark in a season when he did so in 2012-13.
