If you are ever accused of a crime of any kind, an investigation that is thorough, objective, and fair is one of the most important protections we have against a wrongful conviction. Ethical codes require that investigations be based on principles of honesty and impartiality. The "Start By Believing" campaign, however, trains investigators to begin an investigation by presuming the guilt of the accused. “Start By Believing” programs consistently use the guilt-presuming word "victim," not "complainant." The “presumption of innocence” has been eroded over time but it must be restored if we are to restore our Republic. Liberty can not survive in a nation where the burden of proof doesn’t fall on the Accuser rather than the Accused. Renee Jolly, parent of a son who was falsely accused by a female student, and wrongfully expelled from his University, will join me to discuss what her son is going through, and how Betsy DeVos' proposed regulations will make a difference.
