President / Ceo of Fathers to Dads Inc & Co-Founder/Creator – The Fatherhood Report J. Scott Porter was born in the Bronx, New York and is a husband and father of five children and two grandchildren. He served 18 years as a youth pastor and also has over 15 years of experience in social services. He educated fathers on parenting skills and helped them to become more engaged in the lives of their children as program manager of Bootheel Healthy Start Fatherhood First, a Fatherhood Initiative programs launched in the State of Missouri. Scott is the founder and director of SlamFest Basketball Tournament – an outreach initiative that raises funds for youth activities in the Missouri area. He also served as Director of Missouri Youth Conservation Corp where he taught job skills and job placement. While in Missouri, he also served as program manager for Missouri Mentoring Partnership, a program that taught high school students job readiness skills and trained workplace mentors. Scott also served as a Community Center Director of the local Salvation Army in Missouri. He is a Certified Trainer (Steven Covey) Developing Capable People and also a Certified Mentoring Trainer through the Mentoring Institute. His extensive training includes Domestic Violence Training (SEMO University), Advanced Sales & Marketing Training, Advanced Time Management/Leadership Training (SEMO University), Advanced Diversity Training (SEMO University), Advanced Public Relations Training (SEMO University) and Positive Work Habits-University of Missouri Columbia.
