Marvin Walters: Founded The Coalition of Black Stuntmen and Women

Marvin Walters and Eddie Smith founded the Negro Stuntmen’s Association in 1967; the name changed to The Black Stuntmen’s Association in April 1968 two days after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated.  Marvin Walters and Jadie David founded the Coalition of Black Stuntmen and Women in 1973. 

Because of the leadership of Marvin Walters and Jadie David; the two groups along with the support of Alex Carter Personnel Director at MGM Studios, Gary Hughes ‘Senior VP’ labor relations Universal MCA, Lew Wasserman Chairman Universal MCA, Phil Diezen ‘VP’ labor relations and Reuben Estrada labor relations specialist Universal Studios: Bob Proctor “Senior VP” Paramount Pictures, and Carol Lombardini “Warner Bros Labor Relations. Along with Attorney Bernard Fischbach who represented the Coalition with their EEOC Charges changed the history of the Motion Picture Industry  

1981

Warner Brothers and Quinn Martin violated their EEOC Settlement Agreement. Attorney Marge Ryan with the EEOC filled charges in 1983 and both studios had to pay monetary damages to all black stuntmen and women.
