Ever go out for an evening paddle in a kayak or canoe? The heat of the day has passed. The lingering rays of sunshine glinting off the calming waters. Maybe a gull or duck punctuating the quiet on their way to bed down for the night. It can truly be a time to catch your breath and enjoy what nature has to offer where the land meets the water. But then the minutes slip away, the sun is suddenly lower than you thought. You realize that you need to turn around now, as dark will truly set in at any moment. The placid waters are turning an inky black and your mind takes a dark turn, thinking about the stories of those that met an untimely end in these very waters.
