King David was known as the sweet psalmist of Isreal, but he was also a great man of war. He commanded mighty men of valor and great armies during his reign. While David was far from perfect there was one thing he understood. In order to be a godly king, he needed help from on high. David is often seen asking God to teach him, instruct him, and direct him. The ruler of many men and war strategist and king often pleaded that the words of God would be a lamp unto his feet and a light unto his path. David failed often and we can see his failures recorded in history. But David pleased God in his generation because he was a man after God's own heart. Not only was this because he was a man of praise and worship. But because David desired to know and do the will of his God. This is evident in his prayer life. if we desire to be pleasing to God as we represent Him in an ungodly generation we too must do like David. We may not be perfect but we seek to have God order or steps in His word and keep sin from ruling us.
