“The hands of God operating in the lives of His people"

The Book of Deuteronomy was given to the new generation that was unfamiliar with the experiences at Mount Sinai.  The new generation had arrived on the east bank of the Jordan River, and it was one month before they would enter the Promised Land. The adults of the generation which had left Egypt were dead, and their bones were beneath the desert skies because of their unbelief and disobedience. They had broken God’s Law—those were sins of  commission. They had failed to believe God—those were sins of omission. The Law was weak through the flesh. It was the flesh that was the problem then, and it is still our problem today, sin dwells in the flesh. Let’s understand one thing: the Law is good. Although I often emphasize and overemphasize the fact that the Law never had the ability to remove sin, only covered the sin temporally. The Purpose of God’s Law Is to Make Us Conscience of Sin. God couldn’t save us by the Law that does not imply that the Law is not good. The Law was temporal, but grace is eternal. This is the reason God has an altogether different plan on which He saves us Ephesians 2:8-9 says:  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Deuteronomy teaches that obedience is man’s response to God’s love. The problem lies within you and me.
