"The danger of the tongue"    James 3:1-12

The tongue is capable of doing a great deal of good or a great deal of hurt. An unruly tongue is one of the greatest evils. It is compared to a little fire placed among a great deal of combustible matter, which soon raises a flame and consumes all before it. Words can hurt and do damage that sometime is irrevocable. Once your words come out your mouth, you can’t take them back. What comes up sometime comes out. Sometime we are asked to ignore the harsh or hurtful things people say or do to you. People say things like you know how that person is. Well tonight I would like to tell you that it’s not ok.  If a person has been that way all of their lives and may be old it a greater problem, because there is no Christian growth and everyone has feelings.   There are things that have been said many years ago and still hold the same sting as if it was yesterday.  Words have destroyed relationship, caused wars, destroyed home, and broken up families.  On the other hand words of love has built relationships, stopped wars, they can create a loving home and has mended broken families. We must be careful of the words we say and sometime how we say them.  Proverb 18 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.  Are you using your words to build someone up or tear someone down?
