"We are the salt of the earth"  Matthew 5:13-16

These scriptures tonight a taken out of Jesus Sermon on the Mount.  Many people believe that the beatitudes in the 5th chapter of Matthew are the entire Sermon.  The Sermon on the Mount is Jesus' longest speech, sermon, and teaching in the New Testament, and occupies the entire 5, 6 and 7 chapters of the Gospel of Matthew. In His sermon, He never promises a rose garden, life here on earth are filled with trial, tribulation, and adversaries, but He promises that no one would be disappointed in the end, because in the end we win, your retirement is out of this world.  We all will receive our just do for our faithfulness and obedience toward all mighty God. The Sermon on the Mount is the most famous sermon Jesus ever gave, perhaps the most famous sermon ever given by anyone.

The Sermon on the Mount covers several different topics. It is not the purpose of this bible study to comment on every section, but rather to give you a brief summary of what it contains. If we were to summarize the Sermon on the Mount in a single sentence, it would be something like this: How to live a life that is dedicated and pleasing to God, free from hypocrisy, full of love and grace, full of wisdom and discernment.  When we take a closer look at these teaching, we note that in the Sermon on the Mount Jesus not teaching on how to be saved but, rather the type of character a Christian should have once saved and how to be blessed. The Sermon on the    Mount can be summed up as the “Golden Rules”, just do unto other as you would them do unto you. Jesus taught to be blessed you have to actively treat others the way you like to be treated.
