Courtney Shaw has been fortunate enough to combine her love for art and animals throughout her life. She has published several children's books with publisher Rocket Science Productions.
In her career, she was head of the art library at the University of Maryland for many years, as Life Sciences Reference Librarian and as the vertebrate zoology Librarian at the Natural History Museum of the Smithsonian Institution.
And now, that she has retired, she found a new way to combine her two passions.
"I love animals and have always had cats," Shaw said. " I have been writing on computers and in my head for years waiting to retire and now that I am, I can finally put it all together." And that's what she has been doing, starting a series about Sir William Thomas, Tommie for short, her cat and friend for 15 years. "I love doing this, it's just so fun," Shaw said. "Its so easy for me to write and draw since I've been writing articles and reports and working with and around art for my jobs."
