African American people are in a process of transition. The Jewish exodus provides an eerie correlation to the black experience in America. The year 2020 marks the 401st year of since the first African slaves arrived in America. By comparison, Israel was in captivity for 400 years until their exodus. Like African Americans, Israel did not proceed directly from bondage to their promise. Rather, Israel endure a process of transition during their wilderness-experience. During this in-between-process, Israel learned how to function as a nation. In 2020, African Americans are no longer physically bound to plantations, nor enslaved to an Egyptian master. But, we have yet to be permitted access to the full promises implied by the Declaration of Independence, and guaranteed by the United States Constitution; life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

African Americans are no longer property. But Africans Americans are not yet equal. We have had accumulated wealth, increased education, and learned how to march. African Americans have learned to be self-sufficient during our current transition from slavery. But the aforementioned accomplishments will be for not, if we do not utilize the tools of our process and capture the full promise of America. It's time to cross over. African Americans deserve to dwell in a promised land of equality. This promised land of equality was implied by Thomas Jefferson. But, has yet to be realized by African Americans.
